They say that National Donut Day was started by the Salvation Army in 1938 to celebrate the times when ladies would deliver doughnuts to the boy’s in World War 1.
That may be true that the holiday was started back then but, how come we did not celebrate it for years & now it has come into the spot light again?
I am sure that the revival of this holiday is being pushed by a few people you may not have though about.
I would have blamed Oprah but, she is so rich she doesn’t need to have a day to proclaim free donuts to the nation.
So, it could be a plot by Kirstie Alley to make all Americans fat. You know the way it works – If you want to look thinner then just stand next to people that are fatter than you. By the way, if you are in line to get your free donut & see Kirstie coming towards you (You will recognize her, she will be screaming in a sugar rage & her face glazed over like a 2 year old covered in snot) Run For Your Life!
My 2nd thought of who may be behind this street corner sugar pushing is Jenny Craig. Oh yeah, that bitch wants you to be fat. I would not put it past her to have her employees out on the corners holding signs pointing people to that next donut shop.
Then we have to suspect that the donut dealers are involved. Just be aware that Krispy Kreme & Dunkin Donuts are like drug pushers. Yeah, they give you that free taste & know that as soon as the sugar buzz wears off, you will be back for your next hit.
Enjoy your “holiday” and remember that American Diabetes Month is in November, will you be ready?
